Water shortage irks Sopore residents and villages

Sopore : The residents of Pethbug Warpora village and Muslimpeer   of Sopore town in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district Thursday staged protests against non-availability of drinking water in their localities.

Raising slogans against Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, scores of men and women gathered at main Highway and blocked Bandipora –Sopore road demanding immediate restoral of drinking water supply to the area.

“We are facing shortage of drinking water since past week despite in the ongoing month of Ramadan said the protesters.

The protesters expressed anger over inadequacy of drinking water supply in this holly month of Ramadan.

The protest was going on when reports last came in.

Meanwhile a police team reached to the spot and assured protestors that matter will be taken to higher authorities and soon area will get water as per schedule.
