Traffic police’s recovery van hits Maruti car, cop was driving without licence, escapes

Kupwara: Traffic cops escaped after ramming on a Maruti car near J&K Bank bypass road here. The driver of the traffic recovery van along with two more cops escaped from the scene.

“A Maruti 800 car bearing registration number Jk09A-7089 was hit by traffic recovery van bearing registration number JKO1R-2687. Driver along with two traffic cops tried to flee from the spot,” locals said.

People, however, chased the escaping cops and nabbed them.

Upon inquiry, people say the driver was without liscence.

“The driver of the recovery van had no liscence. How come was he driving Traffic department van,” locals said.

As the crowd begun swelling the cops gave a slip and fled.

Police arrived on spot controlled the crowd.

The Maruti Car owner was assured compensation of losses caused by erratic driving by traffic police.

Police also took the traffic van into their possession, at Police post bazar kupwara
