Gunmen kill driver, critical injure his wife in Sopore

Sopore: Unknown gunmen on Friday evening shot dead a 35-year-old and critically wounded his wife at Herwan Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla. The slain has been identified Mohammad Ashraf. The couple was rushed to the Sopore district hospital where doctors declared Ashraf, a driver by profession, brought dead. Condition of his wife is stated to be critical, the sources added.

A police spokesman said that militants on Friday evening entered into the residential house of a civilian Mohammad Ashraf Mir son of Jamal Mir at Harwan in Bomai area of Sopore and fired upon him and his wife. Both were injured critically in this incident and were evacuated to Sub District Hospital Sopore. However Mohammad Ashraf Mir succumbed to his injuries.
“Mohammad Ashraf Mir aged 35 years was a driver by profession. Mir had received a bullet injury in his chest. At Sub District Hospital Sopore he was declared brought dead.
His wife Saima aged 32 was also shot in both legs. She was also taken to SD Hospital Sopore where from she has been referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment. Police has started investigation of the instant case.”
