Kathua case: Protests erupt in North Kashmir

Sopore April : Student protests erupt in parts of North Kashmir on Thursday morning against the brutal rape and murder of eight year old minor girl in Kathua, January this year.
According to reports  that girl students of Girls Higher Secondary School Sopore assembled at Iqbal Market Sopore and took out a peaceful protest rally in the town. The protesting students were seeking justice for Asifa and capital punishment for culprits.
Holding placards that read Hang the Culprits, the protesting students raised anti government, anti BJP slogans, anti India slogans. They demanded capital punishment for the culprits involved in this heinous crime.
During the protests some youth pelted stones resulting in injuries to a civilian Bashir Ahmad Baba son of Ghulam Mohi ud din Baba, 37 Chinkipora Sopore.
Hospital authorities told INS thst said that one person was received at hospital with a skull injury this morning. “Seems he was hit in head by a stone during the clashes at Sopore and has been referred to SKIMS Soura Srinagar for advanced treatment,” authorities  said.
Earlier the district administration has asked the college and higher secondary schools of Baramulla and Sopore to suspend the classwork for a day.
Scores of students of Higher Secondary School Delina also held a protest rally against the Kathua rape and murder case. The protesting students were seeking severe punishment for the culprits. Baramulla police said that there were no clashes in the area and vehicular movement on Srinagar- Muzzafarabad road remained unaffected.
A massive protest demonstration was also held at Rohama, Rafiabad where students of Higher Secondary School marched.
Meanwhile a complete shutdown is being observed at Dangiwacha, Rafiabad against the alleged thrashing of girl students by army on Wednesday
