Kulgam killings: Shutdown in south, north; restrictions in Srinagar old city

Srinagar: Many areas of the south, north Kashmir are observing shutdown against the killing of four civilians in Khudwani village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, while restrictions are in place in old city Srinagar.

Jama masjid under seige, no friday prayers to be allowed. By Zargar Zahoor

Shops and business establishments are closed in Kulgam, Anantnag, Shopian and Pulwama districts in south and Baramulla and Kupwara areas in north Kashmir.

The government forces have been deployed in sensitive areas to maintain law and order. Heavy deployment of forces is in place around central mosque, jama masjid, old city srinagar where the congregational prayers, according to reports, wont be let done.

Yesterday, Kashmir valley witnessed a shutdown and clashes between protesters and government forces after the killing of four civilians in Kulgam district on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Srinagar Banihal train services have been suspended while internet connectivity remains suspended in South Kashmir.
