‘Individual’ injured, army reported its MVCP attacked in Shopian: Police

Srinagar: An “individual” suffered bullet injuries in Shopian even as army “reported” that its MVCP was fired upon by militants travelling in a swift car.
“As reported by army in Shopian, a MVCP of 44RR was fired upon by (militants) travelling in a swift car, which was signaled to stop,” a police spokesman said, adding, “The militants fired upon the naka party, which was retaliated by the men on duty with extreme caution. (militant) lost control of the vehicle and the car got stuck. Consequently, the (militants) abandoned the car and managed to flee. The police has reached the spot.”
Further, the spokesman said, it has come to the notice that one individual namely Shahid Bhat has been brought to hospital with bullet injury. “The circumstances in which he received the injury is being ascertained. The injured is stated to be stable. There is no report of any protest in the area as reported by certain sections of media. The area has been cordoned off More details shall follow,” the spokesman added.
