Sopore on roads against shifting Joint Dir Education Office to Baramulla, threaten agitation

Sopore: Coordination Committee Sopore Tuesday marched through town and staged a sit Protest at Iqbal Market here protesting against shifting the Joint Director Education Office from Sopore to Baramulla.

The protest march was organized by Coordination Committee Sopore, a joint body of Traders Federation Sopore, Bar Association Sopore, Civil society Sopore, Ulema from various mosques, fruit growers and dealers association, teachers forum and industrial estate Sopore.

“Government should not to play with the sentiments of Sopore people. Since PDP has its own MLA in Baramulla, they want to shift everything to Baramulla. But if this decision of shifting Joint Director office from Sopore to Baramulla isn’t revoked, we will launch a massive campaign against the government,” Traders Federation Sopore President Haji Mohammad Ashraf said.

The protestors said that the Joint Director Education’ for north Kashmir Post was announced by State Govt two years before and finally after long struggle concern officer joined the office last week ‘but authorities for unknown reasons decided to shift it to Baramulla’.

The protesting members said that the Joint Director Education Office for North Kashmir was inaugurated at DIET building in Sopore on 15th of this month but was shifted to Baramulla without any valid reason.

“Political pressure by selfish people is being used in this matter,” Haji said.
