DIET Sopore without principal since one year

Baramulla:  District Institute of Education and Training Sopore in north Kashmir  Baramulla district is without principal for the past one year effecting the academic and administrative function of the institution.

Officials told INS that after the transfer of the former principal in 2017 no replacement was done by the department.

“All the routine administrative work of the institute have come to a standstill,” they said.

“For a single signature we have to visit chief education office Baramulla which has affected the functioning of the institute,” an official said, adding, “Unfortunately nobody is paying heed to the problem.”

A teacher working in the institute claimed that due to non-availability of principal they are not able to conduct workshops and other programs in different areas of district.

“Nobody has been given powers to act as the principle either, which has affected the academic functionin as well as hampering the smooth functioning of the institution,” teachers said.

However government has ordered and appointed Pradeep Kumar of Jammu region as a new principal of DIET Sopore in September last year but without joining for single day he was transferred due to his personal interests, claimed a teacher working in the DIET.

Chief Education Officer Baramulla Abdul Ahad told INS that government has given him ‘extra charge as a principal of DIET sopore and I stay at DIET Sopore for two days in a week.
