Baba Farid’s shrine damaged in fire incident caused by lightening

Baramullah:  The shrine of Baba Fareed (R.A)  at Garkote area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district was damaged after fire triggered by lightening struck the shrine on Tuesday night.

According to initial reports a major portion of the shrine was gutted in the fire.

“Baba Fareed has spent 40 years in Uri towns Garkote forest devoting himself to the worship of Allah,” locals said.

Baba Farid is revered by Sikhs as well as his poetry is included into the Guru Granth Sahib – regarded by Sikhs to be the eternal Guru.
