Srinagar: We must be sensitive while dealing with the people of Kashmir said Government of India’s special representative for the valley while appealing forces to “show restraint” and put an end to “civilian killings”, Hindustan Times reported.

Sharman described recent killings in the region as a “setback”.

“Civilian killings must stop. The security forces must show restraint and not resort to disproportionate firing,’’ a Hindustan Times report said quoting Dineshwar Sharma, a former chief of the Intelligence Bureau.

“I was hoping for a better summer but violence has come as a setback. Amongst the districts in south Kashmir, Shopian is particularly alienated and angry. We must be sensitive while dealing with the people of Kashmir,’’ he added.

Sharma was appointed as a special representative by the GoI on October 23 to hold a “sustained dialogue” with all “stakeholders”.
