Srinagar: Shutdown is being observed in valley on Monday against killing of six persons including four civilians, two Lashkar e Taiba militants in Pahnoo area of Shopian district in south Kashmir on Sunday evening by government forces.

Following the killing of three youth and a militant Joint resistance leaders Comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, called for a complete shutdown on Monday.

All schools and colleges have been closed while all exams have been postponed which were scheduled for today.

Schools up to 8th class were scheduled to re-open after winter vacations.

All Kashmir University examinations scheduled to be held on March 5 were also postponed.

Internet services were snapped in south Kashmir while train services remain suspended in the wake of the killings.

Restrictions remain imposed in old city Srinagar as forces in large number have been deployed in and around the city.

One militant and three youth were killed, in Pahnoo area of Shopian on Sunday evening after, according to Army, a naka party was fired upon and in retaliatory fire ‘militant and three Over Ground Worker’s were killed.

On Monday morning one more civilian body was found near the shootout site while another militant body was found in an orchard in Saidpora Shopian.

Police claimed that all the dead were part of the Pahnoo incident.

While Government forces claimed that they killed the OGW’s, chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that ‘civilians’ were killed after getting caught in ‘cross fire’.

The slain militants has been identified as Shahid Ahmad Dar S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, a resident of Jamnagri, Shopian and Ashiq Hussain Bhat resident of Rakh Kapran of LeT.

The three other youth have been identified as Suhail Ahmad Wagay, a resident of Pinjoora,  Shahid Ahmad Khan of Malikgund and Shahnawaz Wagay, a resident of Trenz, and as Gowhar Ahmed Lone of Chitragam Shopian.
