Srinagar: Amid internet clampdown since last evening in Shopian and Pulwama districts, authorities on Monday reduced mobile internet speed in entire Kashmir Valley.
Official sources said that following a communication by police, cellular companies reduced high speed mobile internet (4G/3G) to 128kbps in all other districts of Kashmir Valley with immediate effect on Monday.
The Internet speed has been suspended or reduced following the killing of four civilians and a militant at Pahnoo village of the Shopian. Later, the body of a militant was found at an apple orchard at Saidipora nearly ten kilometres far away from Pahnoo village.
Sources identified the militant as Ashiq Hussain Bhat son of Mohammad Ishaq Bhat of Rakhpora Shopian. He was active since last year and was affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit, they said.
A defence ministry spokesman has claimed a militant and three “OGWs” accompanying him were killed at Pahnoo village of Shopian. Early Monday morning, body of another youth Gowhar Ahmad Lone was found on wheels of the vehicle he was driving.
