Kupwara: Kupwara police on Friday arrested a non-local for stealing an optic specific fibre machine worth lakhs.
SSP Kupwara Shamsheer Hussain told reporters, “A complaint from Showkat Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Amin Mir resident of Gulgam Kupwara was received in police station Sogam stating that during the intervening night of 20-1-2018, two persons namely Mohammad Akbar Sofi son of Yalfaan Sofi and Dineshwar Kumar son of Ramdas Kumar both residents of village Sitapur district of Supual Bihar decamped with DG track system costing about 21 lakh rupees, from Doniwari Lolab.”
“With the help of Bihar Police, one accused involved in theft case Mohammad Akbar, 19, was held after interrogation. The accused confessed the involvement along with another person. He was held in Bihar along with the machine and another accused who is still absconding. Hope he will be held soon,” SSP said.
“Efforts to arrest the absconding Dineshwar are underway and hope he is held soon,” SSP said, adding that a case FIR number 1/2018 US 457,380 RPC has been registered at police station Sogam and investigation is on.
