Opposition stages walk out over ‘power crisis’ in Kashmir

Jammu: The Opposition National Conference on Friday staged protest in the assembly against the continuous shelling along the borders of Jammu region.
As soon as the assembly session started, NC MLA Mian Altaf supported by other legislators stood up from his chair and condemned the killing of a 47-year-old woman in Mendhar border.
The NC members sought Speaker’s attention and demanded chief minister Mehbooba Mufti’s statement over the continuous border shelling.
“The innocent lives continue to be lost, how long shall it continue,” they said.
A 47-year-old woman Zanib B wife of Nazir Hussain of Balnoie, Mendhar Poonch died after a motor shell hit her house on Thursday evening.
An army soldier was also injured late Thursday evening due to cross border shelling in Krishna Ghati sector. He was airlifted to military hospital Udhampur for treatment.
