Sopore: Hundreds of people on Wednesday participated in the funeral of goldsmith whose body was recovered from river Jhelum near Sopore, 34 days after he was “murdered” in this north Kashmir town in Baramulla district. The funeral prayers were held at Iqbal Market Sopore.
A complete Shutdown is being observed in the Sopore Town to mourn the murder of Goldsmith, Tariq Ahmed Malik who was kidnapped, murdered and then thrown into river jehlum on December 26.
The shutdown call was given by traders body Sopore, which was also supported by local Bar Association and Fruit Association.
All shops and other business establishments remained closed in town while skeletal traffic plied through the town.
Malik, a resident of Kalaroos area of Kupwara district was running a jewellery shop in the Apple town before he had gone missing. Sopore police earlier this month arrested four accused who it said kidnapped and murdered him.
