Pulwama: People in Hawal village of this south Kashmir district held protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) on Monday, demanding repair of the damaged transformer.
Residents blocked the highway against lackadaisical approach of power department, halting traffic movement for about three hours.
“It has been more than ten days since we left our defunct transformer to get repaired. We have paid Rs 2000 for the services but to no avail,” one of the residents said.
Locals said authorities tried to solve this “grave” issue but failed due to their “ineptitude way of working”.
When contacted, Junior Engineer Rajpora said he will look into the matter and try to resolve it at the earliest.
Later inspector intervened and traffic was restored.
