Family of missing ‘murdered’ goldsmith continues protest

Sopore: Family and relatives of the missing “murdered” goldsmith Tariq Ahmed Malik staged protest at Iqbal Market, Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday demanding his body.
Tariq, a resident of Kalaroos in Kupwara, was presently putting up at Baba Yousuf, Sopore. His family on Wednesday held protest outside the offices of DDC and SSP in district Kupwara demanding his body and stern action against the culprits.
The DDC Kupwara assured them of “full support”.
Police had on Monday said Tariq Ahmad Malik, 32, who has been missing since December 26 has been murdered after abduction. He was robbed off and strangulated after abduction and his body was thrown into river Jhelum, police said.
On Thursday, the family members and relatives of Tariq assembled at Iqbal Market Sopore and staged protest demonstration.
They requested the police and district administration to make all out efforts in retrieving the body of goldsmith from Jhelum.
