The old building of the shrine, according to locals, was completely damaged in the mysterious fire incident that took place in the year 1997.

Locals while talking to INS said despite back to back requests, authorities have failed to complete the work on shrine till date.

“Tourism department and JKPCC authorities had taken this project but they failed to reconstruct the shrine in a stipulated time,” they said.

The members of Auqaf Islamia Hamdania Tral also expressed resentment against the authorities for frequent delays in the construction.

Talking to INS, Secretary Auqaf Islami Hamdania Tral, Bashir Ahmed Bhat, said the construction is going on at snail’s pace which is very unfortunate. He said besides other issues, the shrine lacks electrification, proper sound system and front elevation which need to be done as early as possible.

“Apart from other issues, the electrification and sound system facilities should be restored soon as open wires inside the shrine pose threat to devotees,” Bashir added.

Despite several attempts, the concerned officials couldn’t be reached for comments.

Meanwhile, locals have urged the government to speed up the construction work on the shrine.
