Tral, Dec 12: Residents of Irrigation division Lane Tral township of Pulwama district are demanding separate transformer, being overloaded as it supplies electricity to the locality and a CRPF camp nearby. The overloading usually damages the LT lines passing through the locality.
A delegation of locals told INS that the LT lines were snapped and were hanging from the electric poles endangering lives.
“The transformer is overloaded as it caters to the locality and the CRPF camp. We appealed the PDD that they should install another transformer so that overloading doesnot happen,” locals claimed.
Locals claimed that the LT lines usually get damaged and after minor facelifts the same wires are used.
“Neither they install another transformer, nor they change the wires. The danger of fatality always persists in the area,” they claimed.
Residents said that recently the wires again got damaged and kept hanging in the lane for two days.
“We were coming out of masjid after morning prayers when the wires fell down. People had a narrow escape,” they rued.
Residents claimed that they have ‘repeatedly lodged complaint in the PDD but no one has turned up to resolve their issues despite assurances from top officials.’
“After visiting the spot, I have discussed the issue with deputy commissioner Pulwama and he has directed me to send proposal for the new transformer in the area,” Assistant Executive Engineer PDD, Tral, Mohd Maqbool Ahanger told INS.
Asked about the broken LT lines Ahanger said that they have ‘installed separate lines for the residents to mitigate their problems’.
