Srinagar records Season’s coldest night, Gulmarg coldest at -4.5C in Kashmir

Coldest night in Srinagar, Leh frozen at minus 10.2

The night temperature in this summer capital of the state was four degrees below normal during this time of the season, a meteorological official told INS, indicating further fall in the mercury due to dry weather. Srinagar saw a low o minus 3.7 C on previous night.
“It’s going to be fairly cold for the next few days also and the low temperatures may remain around -4C due to the clear skies.”
Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district was the coldest place in the Valley and recorded a low of minus 4.5.C.
Pahalgam hill resort in south Kashmir was the second coldest recorded place in Kashmir with a low of minus 4.4 C, the official said.
The highway town of Qazigund in south Kashmir also saw plunge by few notches and recorded a low of minus 2.8C, while the night temperature in neighbouring Kokernag and north Kashmir Kupwara settled at minus 1.4C and minus 3.2C respectively.
The MET official said Leh town in frontier region of Ladakh was the coldest place in the state even as it recorded increase by one degree Celsius. Against minus 12C last night, it recorded a low of minus 11C.
The weatherman has already predicted dry weather for this week in state.
