Ensure evening transport in Srinagar, Deputy Commissioner to transporters

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 29: Taking cognizance of complaints of unavailability of public transport facilities in the evenings in the district, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Syed Abid Rashid Shah, today convened a meeting with transporters representing different transport associations operating in the district.

The DC, while acknowledging the concerns of the transporters operating in the district, gave clear-cut instructions to the transporters to ensure availability of public transport facilities late into the evenings across the district.

He called for immediate reinforcements in public transport availability on all notified public routes in the district, particularly at the city centre.

Dr. Shah also asked the transporters to ensure that there is total control on their concerned fleets of public vehicles operating across the district.

“The district administration acknowledges the concerns of the transporters operating in the district and that all possible support will be provided for earliest possible redress of concerns,” Shah said.

Shah  also said that strict action will be taken ‘if new complaints of unavailability or inadequateness of transport facilities in the evenings are reported from any part of the district’.

The transporters assured the DC of availability of transport facilities late into the evenings in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said different teams have been constituted to ensure availability as well as adequateness of public transport in the evenings on all notified public routes in the district.

Shah requested the general public of the district to report any related complaints to the district administration at 0194-2452182[email protected]. He assured of quick redress of reported concerns.

The meeting was also attended by ADC (V) Srinagar and ARTO Srinagar.
