JKLF Chief Yasin Malik arrested in Srinagar, shifted to central jail

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Yasin Malik was arrested on Monday to prevent him from leading protests in Srinagar, said a spokesman.

He said that a police party arrived at his Maisuma residence in Srinagar today morning and detained him.

“Malik was detained and shifted to Central Jail Srinagar,” said the spokesman.

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik has called for a protest shutdown today in solidarity with Kashmiri prisoners lodged in various jails in and outside the state.

While Geelani continues to remain under house arrest at his Hyderpora residence Mirwaiz was put under house detention yesterday.
