Srinagar: It is the collective responsibility of people and the leadership to take to its logical conclusion the purpose for which youth of Jammu and Kashmir are sacrificing their lives, Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said on Monday.
Mirwaiz, who is under house arrest from last three days, was quoted as having conversed to the father of militant commander Murgees Ahmad in a telephonic call. Murgees, a resident from Parimpora area of Srinagar, was killed in an encounter at Zukara here on Friday evening.
Mirwaiz also expressed his condolence and solidarity to the family, the spokesman said in a statement issued in Urdu.
Meanwhile, the spokesman also paid glowing tributes to six armed youth killed in an encounter at Hajin and stated that “sacrifices of martyrs of the movement will not go waste.”
The spokesman expressed serious concern over the deteriorating condition of senior incarcerated resistance leader Shabir Ahmed Shah in Tihar Jail, New Delhi.
“Under a well thought out plan, Kashmir’s resistance leaders are being subjected to political vendetta, which of late is taking a serious toll on the health of all the leaders lodged there,” the spokesman said.
Besides Shah, many other resistance leaders lodged in Tihar including Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, Altaf Ahmed Fantoosh, Mehrajudin Kalwal,  Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar.
“They are also suffering from multiple ailments and deprived from the medical aid which poses a serious threat to their life.”
The spokesman also condemned the “highhandedness” of Tihar Jail authorities in “not providing the medical aid to the pro-freedom leaders lodged in Tihar.”
He said many doctors have suggested immediate medical attention be given to most of the Kashmiri prisoners lodged in Tihar but jail authorities are in “denial mode.”
The spokesman has strongly condemned the frequent house detention of Mirwaiz and barring him from carrying out his social, religious and political obligations as the worst form of “oppressive tactics.”
