The lecture series is organised by the Centre for Sheikh-ul-Alam Studies (CSAS) to spread the message of peaceful coexistence, non-violence and mutual brotherhood as propagated by Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) in his teachings and philosophy.

In the opening lecture, renowned writer and scholar Ghulam Nabi Gowhar dwelt at length on Sheikh-ul-Alam’s philosophy and teachings of non-violence and mutual coexistence. He also referred to ‘Rishi Movement’ in Kashmir and said that Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) was a representative of coexistence and non-violence through and through.

Scores of research scholars and faculty members, present on the occasion, interacted with Ghulam Nabi Gowhar who urged upon them to conduct authentic research on the life and teachings of Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA). HOD Kashmiri Prof Majrooh Rashid was also present.

In his welcome address, Chairman CSAS, Dr MS Sumbli, said the Centre is committed to live up to its mandate of conducting authentic research on Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) and this lecture series is a modest effort in that direction.  He said during the lecture series, experts and researchers on Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) shall throw light on different facets of his life, particularly Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) as an ardent advocate of mutual coexistence, non-violence and composite culture.
