Career of students is at stake as Craft Development Institute as the institute has no affiliation with Kashmir University rendering its degree useless. Officials at KU say ‘they will find a way out’

The affiliation provided by the Kashmir University had been temporary for the academic year 2011-2012, since then the CDI has not renewed the affiliation.

“They are playing with our future, our session started from October 2017, when we went to KU, dean academics said what is CDI?. It is all fraud, you are not affiliated,”Sana Iqbal first semester student told INS.

According to protesting students officials at Kashmir University had told them that it is’ almost impossible to get UGC affiliation this time’.

Protesting students were demanding  UGC recognition for their course of Masters in craft management and entrepreneur.

MCME degree is the only post graduation programme from department of management and commerce studies which has not been affiliated under UGC yet.

“From last four years they are playing with our future. They are making fake promises from the beginning,” Mariya, a fourth semester student said.

Sajid Nazir, senior faculty of the CDI claimed that  the ‘chaos happened due to the miss -communication between Kashmir University and CDI’.

“We both are responsible for this, as we were unaware about the renewal of afflation and Kashmir University also did not remind us ever,’ Nazir claimed.

“Yesterday we did all affiliation formality with Kashmir University; we won’t let students to suffer. We will make sure to end this problem as soon as possible. Kashmir University had also promised us to help out on this same matter,” Nazir said.

Joint Director Handicrafts  Nazir Ahmad Mir said: “I agree that it is a big mistake done by CDI as well as by KU that they have not renewed affilation till this date.”

“I assure students that within less time this matter will get resolved” Mir promised.

Prof.Musadiq Amin Sahaf , Dean Academic affairs of Kashmir University while speaking with INS said that “We won’t let  future of students be spoiled. There are certain norms if the institution wants to get affiliated under UGC ,it should have permanent faculty with net or phd holders but CDI doesn’t full fill these norms. We gave them eighth months to get norms fulfilled. After that we will think about giving affiliation to them. But for the sake of students future we will definitely find a way.”
