Traffic Curbs Announced In Srinagar For Chief Justice Oath Ceremony Today

Srinagar, Sep 09: Traffic Police City Srinagar has issued a special traffic advisory ahead of the oath-taking ceremony of Dr Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, scheduled to take place in Srinagar today.

The ceremony will be held at the Shalimar Convention Centre, SKUAST Kashmir, at 11:00 AM, following which temporary traffic restrictions and diversions will be implemented in the surrounding areas.

As per the advisory, commuters travelling from Harwan, Shalimar, Nishat and adjoining areas towards Lal Chowk have been asked to use the Foreshore Road to reach their destinations.

Likewise, motorists heading towards Nishat, Shalimar and Harwan have been advised to take the Foreshore Road via Shalimar Bridge.

Traffic Police said that vehicles will not be permitted to proceed towards SKUAST Kashmir during the restricted period. Movement towards Shalimar via Ishber will also remain prohibited.

The traffic arrangements will remain effective for two hours, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon on September 9, or until the oath ceremony and associated traffic movement are completed.

However, vehicles carrying emergency cases will be permitted to use the shortest available route, the advisory stated.

Traffic Police has urged motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the directions of traffic personnel deployed along the affected routes.

For traffic-related assistance, the public can contact the Traffic Police Control Room at 103.
