Ganderbal, September 7: A search operation was launched in the Thune area of Kangan in Ganderbal district after a boy and a girl were reportedly seen jumping into a power canal, officials said on Monday.
According to preliminary information, the boy has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Kahi, son of Mohammad Sharif Kahi, a resident of Thune. The identity of the girl has been withheld.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, Kangan Police, SDRF personnel and a local rescue team launched a coordinated search operation in and around the power canal to trace the two persons.
Rescue personnel continued their efforts to locate the missing individuals, while police officials were also working to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
