Srinagar, July 18: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday reviewed the situation after a vehicle of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra convoy met with an accident near Jakhani in Udhampur district earlier in the day.
Following the incident, the Lieutenant Governor spoke with Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa, and medical officials to assess the condition of the injured pilgrims. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment and all necessary assistance for those admitted to Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur.
According to the Lieutenant Governor, five pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh and the driver of the vehicle, a resident of Ganderbal district, sustained injuries in the accident. All the injured are currently undergoing treatment at GMC Udhampur.
The Lieutenant Governor instructed senior officials to closely monitor the situation and ensure that no effort is spared in providing quality healthcare and support to the injured pilgrims for their speedy recovery.
In a post on X, Manoj Sinha said that he had spoken with the Deputy Commissioner and medical officials to inquire about the health condition of the injured devotees.
He said, “Spoke with the Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur and medical officials and inquired about the health condition of Shri Amarnathji Yatra pilgrims injured in the unfortunate road accident near Jakhani, Udhampur earlier this morning. Five pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh and a driver from Ganderbal sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at GMC Udhampur. Senior officials have been directed to ensure all necessary assistance and the best possible medical care is provided for their swift recovery. I pray to Baba Barfani for the safety, well-being and smooth journey of all devotees.”
The administration is closely monitoring the condition of the injured, while authorities have assured that all necessary medical and logistical support is being extended to the affected pilgrims. The Shri Amarnathji Yatra is continuing under elaborate security and administrative arrangements across Jammu and Kashmir.
