Sopore November 01: Kashmir fruit growers and dealers are demanded roll back of GST on packaging material of fruits on tuesday.
Fruit growers and dealers were talking to reporters after a meeting of Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers and Dealers Association at Fruit Mandi Sopore.
Bashir ahamd Bashir, chairman excustive body fruit association kashmir, President fruit association Baramula Mohammad yousef, Fruit association Shopian, and Fruit association Srinagar were part of the meeting.
” GST of 12% on card board packaging material, 12% on waste paper packaging material besides 18% on fungicides, pesticides and insecticides in not affordable for growers,” they said.

Chairman KVFGDA Bashir Ahmad Basheer said the imposition of GST on card board, waste paper packing material and pesticides, fungicides and insecticides are not affordable by the growers particularly small growers.
“Besides, rates of all varieties of fresh fruits will therefore rise and will sky rocket due to imposition of GST.”
He said fruit growers and dealers are apprehending heavy losses by imposition ofGST.

The growers urged state government to take up the matter with government of India for consideration of exemption of GST on these items.
