The initiative was formally inaugurated today at Hotel Asian Park, Srinagar, in the presence of key stakeholders from the agriculture sector, financial institutions, and government bodies.

The program focuses on poverty alleviation and sustainable livelihood development for 3,000 farmers across 50 villages in the districts of Ganderbal, Baramulla, Budgam, Kupwara, and Pulwama.

With a strong emphasis on climate-resilient farming and value chain development, the initiative aims to address critical challenges in vegetable farming through capacity building, infrastructure support, and direct market linkages.

The event commenced with an opening note and guest welcome by Dr. Umer Bin Farook (Project Coordinator – Kisan First, ISAP).

Gaurav Vats (Director – Agriculture, ISAP India Foundation) and Dr. Tahir Nazir (State Head – J&K, ISAP India Foundation) introduced the project’s objectives and impact, followed by Aadil Ayoob (AVP, HDFC Bank), who shared insights on HDFC Bank’s role in supporting rural livelihoods.

Prof. Rihana Habib Kant (Director Extension, SKUAST-K) discussed the role of KVKs in strengthening Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).
