Jammu, Feb 15: The Jammu Newspaper Editors Guild (JNEG) hosted a landmark event on Saturday at the Lemon Tree Hotel, celebrating the invaluable contributions of working journalists, photographers, and reporters in the region.

This inaugural felicitation function marked a significant milestone in recognizing the efforts of media professionals in Jammu, reads a statement issued to INS.

Chairman Raj Daluja and President A.K. Sawhney warmly welcomed esteemed guests, including Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS (DIG Jammu Samba Kathua Range), and K.B. Jandial, IAS (Retd), who graced the occasion.

In his address, Chairman Raj Daluja expressed gratitude to the chief guests for their presence and support, emphasizing JNEG’s commitment to the welfare of journalists.

He assured attendees that the challenges faced by the media community would be brought to the attention of government authorities for resolution.

Daluja congratulated the awardees and reaffirmed the Guild’s dedication to organizing similar events in the future to further motivate journalists and photographers.

President A.K. Sawhney elaborated on the pressing issues confronting media houses in Jammu, such as financial constraints and safety concerns. He highlighted the Guild’s initiative to foster appreciation for journalists’ relentless pursuit of truth and excellence, especially in a rapidly evolving media landscape.

Sawhney praised the media professionals for their unwavering dedication, emphasizing that their work often goes beyond conventional hours and requires immense commitment.

He underscored the Guild’s initiative to appreciate the journalists’ relentless pursuit of truth and excellence in an ever-evolving media landscape. “Our media professionals work tirelessly around the clock, and their contributions deserve recognition,” Sawhney remarked.

He also mentioned ongoing discussions with the government regarding journalist insurance, which will soon provide coverage for working journalists in Jammu.

The chief guests, Shiv Kumar Sharma and K.B. Jandial, presented awards to distinguished journalists, including Arun Joshi (Senior Journalist), Pardeep Dutta (Editor, Times Now), and Vivek Sharma (Senior Journalist & Bureau Chief, State Times).

Photographers Channi Anand, Inderjeet Singh, and Ashok Baru (Journey Line), along with reporters Anubav Suri (Bureau Chief, Dainik Savera), Mohinder Jeet Singh (JK Channel), and Tanvir Ahmed (Udaan Urdu Daily Newspaper), were also honored for their exceptional work.

The event witnessed participation from notable figures in the media industry, including Iqbal Kazmi (Senior Vice President and Editor, Udaan Urdu), Vishal Chopra (Spokesperson and Editor, Jammu Metro), Vinod Kumar (Editor, Truly Times), Amit Sawhney (Editor, Journey Line), Puneet Arora (Editor, Early Post), and Abhishek Kapoor (Editor, Daily Reality Speaks).

The Jammu Newspaper Editors Guild remains steadfast in its commitment to advocate for the rights and needs of journalists, ensuring their voices are heard and their contributions acknowledged. As the media landscape continues to evolve, JNEG is dedicated to supporting its members and upholding the integrity of journalism in the region.
