Srinagar, Dec 26: The Open Merit Students Association (OMSA), leading the protest against the current reservation policy, on Thursday urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to facilitate the release of the minutes from their meeting held on Monday.

“Following our deliberations with the Hon’ble Chief Minister, it was communicated to us that an official press release detailing the minutes of the meeting would be issued immediately. However, more than 48 hours have passed, and no such statement has been released so far,” OMSA, said in a post on X.

“We respectfully urge the Hon’ble Chief Minister to facilitate the release of this press statement at the earliest. This will provide much-needed clarity to the concerned students, aspirants, and youth regarding the matters discussed during the meeting, including the assurances provided.”

They said the press release is essential to address the immediate actionable items as discussed with the CM and to reaffirm the commitment to resolving both the broader rationalisation issue itself and related concerns within six months from the date of the formation of the committee.

The students association also said that continuing recruitment under the current system would unfairly disadvantage open merit candidates. “We strongly urge the government to halt all recruitment processes until the review is completed and the reservation policy is rationalized, ensuring fairness and preventing further discrimination,” they added.
