Dal Lake, water pipes freeze as cold wave sweeps Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 25: The parts of world famous Dal Lake and water pipelines froze on Wednesday as the cold wave continues to intensify as minimum temperatures plummeted across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.

“Several areas recorded sub-zero temperatures, with Pulwama and Shopian emerging as the coldest places in Kashmir at -9.1°C,” the data reads.

It reads as, in Srinagar, the mercury dipped to -7.3°C, while Qazigund recorded -6.6°C and Kupwara -6.4°C. Pahalgam and Gulmarg registered -8.4°C and -6.6°C, respectively. Meanwhile, Budgam experienced a chilling -7.8°C, and Anantnag recorded -9.0°C.

It reads as, in the Jammu region, Jammu city reported a minimum of 7.1°C, while Banihal recorded -1.3°C and Katra stood at 6.7°C. Bhaderwah experienced -1.6°C, and Padder saw temperatures dip to -9.5°C, making it one of the coldest areas in the region.

Similarly, the ihe icy conditions extended to Ladakh, where Leh recorded -12.6°C, and Kargil followed closely at -12.0°C.
