According to KNO, the news of his death has sent shockwaves through both the business and political communities in Jammu and Kashmir.

Rana, known for his successful automobile enterprise, JamKash Vehicleades, was also recognised as one of the wealthiest candidates in Jammu, with a reported net worth exceeding Rs 123 crore. His recent electoral victory in the Nagrota Assembly seat, achieved with a record-breaking margin, had positioned him as a frontrunner to be named the BJP Legislative Party leader.

Born in the Doda district of Jammu, Rana had a multifaceted career. He initially made a name for himself in the business sector before transitioning to politics, where he served as a close advisor to former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah within the National Conference (NC).

He joined the BJP in October 2021, alongside fellow politician Surjit Singh Slathia, after discussions with Home Minister Amit Shah. His unique ability to engage with diverse communities, including Hindus and Muslims, particularly the Gujjars, enhanced his influence in Jammu’s political landscape.

Rana’s family confirmed that his body would be brought back to Jammu overnight, and the cremation is scheduled for Friday.

He is survived by his wife and children, as well as his brother, Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr Jitendra Singh.
