IGP reviews security arrangements for Aug 15 at PCR Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 10: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V.K. Birdi chaired a security review meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir to review the overall security scenario and arrangements regarding the celebration of forthcoming Independence Day and Tiranga Rally.

The meeting was attended by IG CRPF SOS, IG BSF Ftr. HQR Srinagar, IGP Traffic J&K, DD IB, DIG Armed Kashmir, all range DIsG of Kashmir Zone, DIG IR Kashmir, DIG BSF Srinagar, DIG CRPF (North) Srinagar, DIG CRPF SKOR Awantipora, Col GS IS 15 Corps, all district SSsP of Kashmir Zone, DC SB Srinagar, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, SSP CID CIK, SSP Security Kashmir, CO KOS CRPF, SP East Srinagar, SP South City Srinagar, SP PC Srinagar, SP CID SB Kashmir, SP Telecom Kashmir and other officers, a police spokesman said.

At the outset of the meeting, IGP Kashmir sought reports from the officers about security arrangements and deployment plans put in place for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the events.

The IGP discussed in detail all the arrangements to be made for smooth conduct of these events and directed to ensure all the necessary arrangements are in place well in time. Emerging challenges and their counter measures were threadbare discussed during the meeting, the statement added.

IGP Kashmir directed the officers to enhance checkpoints especially during the night hours and keep strict vigil on the elements inimical to peace. He directed the officers that extra vigil is required to be maintained for the forthcoming events especially for Independence Day celebrations.
The IGP directed the officers for ensuring implementation of joint mechanisms chalked out at different levels.

IGP emphasised the officers to establish 24×7 special checkpoints at vulnerable locations and entry exit routes of city.

Officers were asked to enhance night domination in their respective vulnerable population and areas. IGP Kashmir further focused upon the fair and smooth conclusion of the events and directed the officers to maintain strict vigilance and alert to disrupt terror ecosystem.
