Srinagar, Jun 10: Administrative Council which met here under the Chairmanship of Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor, J&K approved creation of 342 posts of different categories for High-Security Prison at village Dhambra Mahanpur of District Kathua.

Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor; Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor attended the meeting.

The High Security Prison is being constructed at the cost of Rs 87.81 crores. The Prison shall have the capacity of lodging 240 high-risk prisoners. The construction of the Prison, through Police Housing Corporation, is expected to be completed by Feb 2025. The jail shall incarcerate criminals and shall help maintain public order and prevent future crimes. It will also help in de-crowding of jails.
