KU Cricket teams script history, win All India Intervarsity tourney at Jaipur

Srinagar, Apr 01: University of Kashmir Men and Women Cricket Teams lifted the All India Six a Side Cricket Championship on Monday at SGVU University Jaipur.

In the first final match University of Kashmir Women Team defeated Pacific University Maharashtra by 150 runs , Batting first University of Kashmir scored 237 for no loss.

Snowber scored brilliant 119 while Sheezul scored 80 runs. In reply Pacific University Maharashtra were bowled out on 87 Runs.

In Men final match University of Kashmir defeated LPU Jallandhar by 5 wickets. Batting first LPU managed to score 74 runs. Saddam took 2 wickets for University for University of Kashmir.

The target was easily chased by university of Kashmir in 4.2 overs. Wahid scored 47 Runs while Mehran scored 27 Runs.

Earlier In the Semi Final matches
University of Kashmir Men and Women Teams defeated host SGVU University.

Vice Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan congratulated all the team members for making whole University of Kashmir proud. This is a huge achievement which needs all praises, and the credit goes to the Director and Coaches of Directorate of Physical Education and Sports for showing full faith in the teams and for deputing the teams for the participation despite of short notice. Our students have shown that they have the potential of competing at any level, she added.

Registrar University of Kashmir Prof Naseer Iqbal appreciated the efforts of the Directorate for providing much needed exposure and platforms to the students of University of Kashmir. Today our teams really made us proud by creating history at All India Level. Prof Naseer Iqbal passed on his wishes to entire team for this achievement.

Dr Mandeep Director DPES congratulated both the teams for remarkable performance and achievements. He also thanked the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and Registrar of University of Kashmir for providing full support to the Directorate.

Dr Mandeep also congratulate the Coaches Sakeena Akhtar and Amjad Qadir for putting their best efforts and leading the teams to lift the Championships.

Dr A.Haldar, President SGVU, Registrar SGVU was the Chief Guest on the occasion and distributed the prizes to the players. The other dignitaries who were present on the occasion include Dr Arun Mathur, Dean Centre of Sports Management.
