KU’s Cricket team leaves for its maiden All India  Intervarsity tourney at Jaipur

Srinagar, Mar 28: University of Kashmir has deputed its Cricket teams Men and Women for the participation in All India-Six a Side Cricket Tournament to be held at Suresh Gyan Vihar University Jaipur from Thursday.

This is for the first time University of Kashmir Cricket Teams will participate in All India level Tournament, a statement issued to INS reads.

The participation in the event became possible because of the sincere efforts of the Cricket Coaches of the Directorate Sakeena Akhtar and Amjad Qadir.

The team was today flagged off by the Registrar of University of Kashmir Prof Naseer Iqbal.

The Registrar passed in his wishes to the participants.

Prof Naseer Iqbal during his interaction emphasized on the importance of team work and how it can play a vital role in getting the desired results.

He also congratulated the Directorate for putting the best efforts to provide the much needed platform to the students of University of Kashmir.

The Vice Chancellor is very particular to see the University Campuses flourishing with the sports activities and for that every support will be provided whenever needed, he added.

Dr Mandeep Singh Director of DPES thanked the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan and Registrar Prof Naseer Iqbal for always being encouraging and supportive in providing all support and cooperation towards the Directorate.

He assured the authorities that the University will be buzzing with the sports activities in the upcoming calendar year.

The other dignitaries who were present on the occasion include the DSW Anessa Shafi, Prof Mehraj from Sanskrit Dept and Shahid from DSW.

The team will play its first match on 29th of March and both the Coaches are confident that the teams will put up a good show in the tournament.
