This ten-day certified course for men and women commenced on the 8th of March and wrapped up on the 17th of March, 2025. A diverse group of students—boys and girls—from various affiliated colleges across the valley participated with enthusiasm. They were fortunate to be under the tutelage of three well-qualified instructors: Tajinder Singh, Abid Ahmad, and Fayaz Ahmad, who provided comprehensive training.

The valedictory function was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Mandeep Singh, Director of DPE&S, and Mr. Abdul Rashid, the in-charge of the ski shop. Their presence added prestige to the event.

Dr. Mandeep Singh thanked the Vice Chancellor ma’am for the support and abled guidance to the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports for successfully conducting this course. The course was also undertaken well with the regular supervision of the worthy Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal. Whole group of learner’s were thankful to vice chancellor Prof. Nilofar Khan who flagged off the course on 8th of March 2024.

The Director took the opportunity to congratulate the students on their successful and safe completion of the course, emphasizing the importance of such programs in promoting physical education and sports. The course not only equipped students with skiing skills but also fostered a spirit of adventure and camaraderie among them.

Participants received hands-on experience, learning various skiing techniques, which are essential for tackling the slopes with confidence. The training also included vital safety protocols to ensure that everyone remained safe while enjoying the thrill of skiing. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to the proud participants, marking their achievements and the new skills they had acquired.

This initiative by the University of Kashmir is commendable, as it promotes winter sports in the region and encourages students to engage in healthy outdoor activities. The successful completion of the course is a testament to the dedication of the students and the expertise of the instructors. It is hoped that such courses will continue to inspire more students to take up skiing and appreciate the natural beauty of Gulmarg.
