Srinagar, Jan 11: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said to have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

“A police party of Police Station Uri headed by SHO PS Uri at a checkpoint established at Tyre Morh Uri intercepted one person. During the search, 42 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Abdul Aziz Chaneeza son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Uri Baramulla. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Uri where he remains in custody,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued here.

Similarly, a police party of Police Station Tangmarg headed by SHO PS Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Beighpora Hariwatnoo Tangmarg intercepted one person. During search, 25 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Mohammad Assadullah Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Rambailpora Bawah Kunzer. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Tangmarg where he remains in custody, police said.

Accordingly, police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Uri & PS Tangmarg and investigation has been initiated.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
