Commissioner SMC chairs introductory meeting

Srinagar, Jan 09: Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Owais Ahmed presided over an introductory meeting with all Municipal Officers on Tuesday to initiate discussions on forthcoming strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing the city’s development and ease of living.

The meeting was attended by all the Senior Officers of the corporation. During the course of meeting Commissioner was briefed about each vital functions of SMC Viz Urban Planning, Enforcement, building permissions, Anti encroachment, Civil, Mechanical, Drainage works, Public Health, Sanitation, Solid Waste Management, Veterinary functions, Finance, Purchase and procurement, Estates, Birth and Death Registration etc.

Commissioner passed on directions to ensure time bound duties in a transparent manner and provide hassle free services to the citizens.

On building permission commissioner SMC has directed concerned wing to facilitate building permission smoothly and issue permissions in a stipulated time so that all the citizens applying for building permissions shall abide by law and proceed for obtaining Building permissions under law.

Similarly on Sanitation the chair directed officials to improve and upgrade overall Sanitation in Srinagar city and go for repairing of street lights where ever required.

Moreover, to curb down the encroachment activities and unauthorized constructions, the concerned wing were directed to remain vigilant and act under law.
