Srinagar, Dec 15: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said to have arrested drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Pattan headed by SHO PS Pattan at a checkpoint established at Shirpora Pattan, intercepted a person who was carrying a bag on his shoulder, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to INS.

“During the search, 12 Kgs of Bhung Patri like contraband substance was recovered from his possession. He was identified as Gh Mohiuddin Ganie son of Late Ab Raheem resident of Shirpora Pattan. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Pattan where he remain in custody,” Police said.

Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of law have been registered at police Station Pattan & investigations have been initiated.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” Police said.
