Srinagar, Oct 23: Budgam police on Monday said to have successfully busted a notorious burglar gang and recovered a substantial quantity of stolen Property worth lakhs.

In a statement issued, a police spokesman said on October 21, a written complaint was received by Police station Khansahib from one Aijaz Ahmad Ganie S/O Khazir Mohammad Ganie R/o Kachipuran Khansahib to the effect that during intervening night of 19/20 October 2023 some theives have barged into his house and stolen copper utensils, high-end clothing, artificial jewelry and gold items, collectively valued at several lakhs of rupees.

He said, in response to this complaint, Police registered a case under FIR No. 148/2023, with charges under Sections 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

During prompt action and exhaustive efforts, some suspects were questioned and one suspect identified as Farooq Ahmad Ganie, @Dil Jalay was subjected to rigorous questioning, police said.

“During the interrogation, he confessed his involvement in the burglary and revealed the whereabouts of the stolen items, leading to their swift recovery, which included copper utensils, clothing, artificial jewelry, and gold articles.”
