Srinagar, Oct 02: The jam-packed stadium of Kashmir University on Monday witnessed the grand finale of second edition of Byju’s Jammu and Kashmir Premier League (JKPL) in which Cemtac Stars emerged victorious by defeating their rivals—Royal Goodwill Cricket Club in a thrilling match by mere 8 runs.

The match started at 11:30 in the morning.

After winning the toss, Royal Goodwill Cricket Club decided to bowl first while Cemtac Stars batting first set a total of 192 runs for the loss of five wickets. Ishtiya Rasool, the captain and Aqib Mir took two wickets each.

However, it was a great one match show in the field by Jatin Wadwan, who managed to score 98 runs without losing his wicket.

Chasing the target of 193 runs, Royal Goodwill Cricket Club lost early wickets as Omar Aalam, the Captain of Cemtac Stars took a crucial wicket of Ishtiyaaq Rasool in the first over of the innings.

However, there was quite disappointment for the Royal Goodwill Cricket Club as the Star cricketer and the inform batsman, Adil Reshi suffered a grave injury in the match and couldn’t score well thereafter.

He walked towards the pavilion just facing two balls only after suffering the injury.

Nonetheless, Kaif Ahmad from Royal Goodwill Cricket Club showed the skills in the field and scored 62 of 40 balls. But, the team couldn’t manage to defeat their rivals despite having two wickets in hand.

Arun Chaprana from Cemtac Stars played a tremendous knock with the bat as well took four crucial wickets including that of Adil Reshi.

Meanwhile, Jatin Wadwan was declared man of the match for his tremendous show.

In the end of the match, several dignitaries including the Chief Guests appreciated both winning team as well as the runner ups.

The organizers appreciated the team work of grounds men, Umpires, Commentators, Chief Guests, media partners and the sponsors as well in the end of the thrilling match.

Chairman of Aryans Group of Colleges, Dr Anshu Kataria, SP Hazratbal Mashkoor Dr Nisar Ahmad register University of Kashmir SDPO Hazratbal Showkat. Shaib SHO Nigeen Javed Ahmad.Sho Zakura Arif Ahmed were Chief Guests on the occasion.

It is worth to mention here that Spectrum, Space Communication, Khaadi, Jaipuria, Red FM 98.3, INS, Aryans, Cemtac Cements, Kashmir Uzma, Max Cements, Pepsi, Glass Experts, Sparsh, KIS and Kanwal were the sponsors of the league.

After giving certificates of appreciation to the sponsors and others, the runner up teams were awarded with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 3.5 lakhs. TheChampions—Cemtac Stars were awarded a trophy, besides a cash prize of Rs 6 lakhs.

The best batsman award was given to Ahmad Omar Banday, who got a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5000 while Musaib Ahmad from Valley Fresh team emerged as best bowler of the tournament, who also received a trophy and a case prize of Rs 5000.

Adil Kachru, was declared Man of the series on the event, who received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 besides a trophy as well.
