Poonch, Oct 4: One person was killed and another injured when a truck they were travelling in met with an accident in Mendhar area in Poonch district on Tuesday.

Official sources said that the accident took place near Mankote Bhatakhas when the truck loaded with cement skidded off the road and fell into roadside open area.

One person Maroof Malik (40) son of Abdul Khaliq of Kayni Mankote died on the spot and the driver Mohammad Iqbal (36) son of Mohammad Hussain of Mankote was injured and shifted to hospital by local volunteers.  They said that Hussain is under treatment at Government Sub District Hospital Mendhar and his condition is stated to be stable. A police official said that a case has been registered.
