Srinagar, Sept 25: Rain lashed parts of Jammu and Kashmir while scattered light to moderate showers and thunder was forecast on Sunday over Jammu and Kashmir in next 24 hours.

A meteorological department official here said that mainly dry weather with possibility of isolated light rain was expected for subsequent two days.

He said that while Srinagar received traces of rain, Kathua recorded highest precipitation of 54.6mm in the last 24 hours till 0830 hours followed by Bhaderwah 37.2mm, Batote 16.0mm, Gulmarg 14.6mm, Banihal 5.0mm, Pahalgam 4.2mm, Qazigund 3.2mm, Kupwara 1.2mm, Katra 1.0mm , Kukernag 1.0mm, and Jammu 0.2mm.

Regarding the minimum temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 15.8°C against 16.6°C on the previous night. The temperature was 5.4°C above normal for the summer capital during this time of the year, he said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 15.0°C, same as on the previous night. The temperature was 6.1°C above normal there, he said.

In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 12.3°C against 10.8°C on the previous night and it was 6.1°C above normal for the south Kashmir resort, he said.

Kokernag recorded a low of 13.5°C against 14.6°C the previous night and it was 3.9°C above normal for the place, he said.

World famous Gulmarg resort recorded a low of 6.2°C against 8.0°C on the previous night. It was 0.8°C below normal for the north Kashmir place, he said.

In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 14.6°C against 12.3°C on the previous night, the official said. It was 5.3°C above normal for the north Kashmir place, he said.

Jammu recorded a low of 22.7°C against 22.4°C on the previous night. It was 1.0°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 15.0°C, Batote 14.5°C, Katra 20.8°C and Bhadarwah 15.2°C.
