Dry Weather Likely To Continue As Night Temp Rises In J&K

Srinagar, May 10:  Amid forecast for mainly dry weather over Jammu and Kashmir in the next 24 hours, night temperature recorded a slight drop on Tuesday, officials said.

A meteorological department official here said Srinagar recorded a low of 12.8°C against 13.7°C on the previous night. The temperature, he said, was 2.1°C above normal during this time of the year for the summer capital.

Qazigund recorded a low of 10.3°C against 11.2°C on the previous night. The temperature was 1.1°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

Pahalgam, which had 3.6mm of rain in the last 24 hours till 0830 hours today, recorded a minimum of 6.0°C against 5.7°C last night. The temperature was 0.5°C above normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir during this time of the season, he said.

Kokernag recorded a low of 10.1°C against 13.0°C on the previous night. It was 0.9°C above normal during this time of the season for the place in south Kashmir, the official said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 6.4°C against 9.0°C on the previous night, the official said.

While 5.2°C is normal for the world famous skiing resort during this time of the season, the official said that the temperature was 1.2°C above normal for the place in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of 11.0°C against 12.3°C on the previous night. The temperature was 1.7°C above normal for the district, the official said.

Jammu recorded a low of 20.2°C against 26.1°C on the previous night, the official said. The temperature was 2.8°C below normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 13.2°C, Batote 14.5°C and Bhaderwah 11.7°C, the official added.
