Srinagar, Jan 14: The upsurge in Covid-19 infection continued in Jammu and Kashmir as 2456 new cases have been reported while five person succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Friday.

They said that 934 of the cases were reported from Jammu Division and 1522 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall tally to 352623.

There were also five deaths in the last 24 hours, three from Jammu division and two from Kashmir Valley. So far 4557 people have succumbed to the virus and include 2216 in Jammu and 2341 in Kashmir.

Giving the district wise details of the fresh cases confirmed in J&K, the officials said that Srinagar reported 464, Baramulla 457, Budgam 139, Pulwama 22, Kupwara 104, Anantnag 101, Bandipora 95,

Ganderbal 12, Kulgam 120, Shopian 8, Jammu 588, Udhampur 55, Rajouri 29, Doda 18, Kathua 52,

Samba 16, Kishtwar 33, Poonch 49, Ramban 4 and Reasi 90,

Besides, they said, 380 Covid-19 patients recovered during the time—211 from Jammu Division and 169 from Kashmir. So far 338063 people have recovered, leave active case tally at 10003–4802 in Jammu and 5201 in Kashmir.

They said there was no new confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) reported today. So far 51 black fungus cases have been confirmed in J&K, the officials said.

They also informed that 72,309 doses of covid-19 vaccine were administered during the time in J&K.
