Government reviews preventive efforts against surge in Covid cases

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 19: Jammu and Kashmir UT Government today reviewed the preventive efforts of the District Administrations against surge in Covid cases.
During the series of meetings of Covid Task Force, DCs and SPs, a comprehensive review was taken to assess the public health response system being implemented by the administrations at district level.
District Administrations were directed to adopt systematic and innovative means for effective clinical management measures in a planned manner.
Vaccination, increased targeted testing, intensive contact tracing, strict containment measures remains key strategy of the government against probable third wave.
High-risk groups, micro containment, adherence of Covid Appropriate Behaviour, mass awareness, identification of positive cases, and robust isolation measures will remain core focus areas to contain the virus.
Divisional Commissioners were directed to constitute Covid inspection teams at the Divisional and District levels for conducting random inspections of various public places and health institutions. The officials were instructed to take strict measures for ensuring the social gathering limit is rigorously followed.
The meeting also discussed the preparatory measures to be taken in view of future health emergencies including training of paramedical staff, stocking of essential drugs, conducting the audit of functionality of oxygen plants, and reviewing emergency Covid action plan.
Vivek Bhardwaj, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department gave a detailed briefing on the district-wise analysis of Covid-19 situation & threat level, present status of positivity rate, testing, and vaccination across the UT, besides measures taken to implement the directions passed in previous meetings.
The Deputy Commissioners apprised the meeting of various measures and containment efforts put in place in their respective districts.
Sh Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lt Governor; Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary; Sh Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department; Sh Shailendra Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Government, Public Works (R&B) Department; Sh Nitishwar Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Lt Governor; Sh Pandurang K Pole, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; Sh Mukesh Singh, ADGP Jammu; Dr Raghav Langer, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Sh Vijay Kumar, IGP Kashmir; Deputy Commissioners and SPs, attended the meetings, in person and through virtual mode.
