Kashmir House Boat Owners Association participate in Dal cleanliness drive

Srinagar:  As a part of an effort to clean Dal Lake, Kashmir House Boat Owners Association (KHBOA) has participated in 15 days mega cleanliness and de-weeding drive of Dal Lake.

The cleanliness drive started on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti by Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha, KHBOA, Chairman, G.R. Siah and Vice Chairman, Manzoor Ahmad Pakthoon said that the cleanliness of Dal Lake should be carried out routinely and it is the collective responsibility of people and government to conserve it as a part of heritage and environment. The drive, according to Mr Pakthoon, will help instill sense of responsibility in the locals to keep their environment clean. The interiors of the Dal Lake also need to be clean and this drive will help in it, saidMr Pakthoon.

As Dal dwellers have also participated in the drive, pertinent to mention, about 1,000 boats and 2,000 individuals will be employed in mega cleanliness and de-weeding of Dal Lake.

As the administration has initiated the project to clean  and preserve Dal Lake, KHBOA has thanked and appreciated LG Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta,  Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole  and senior officers of administration who participated in the cleanliness and de-weeding drive of the lake.
